Resource Department

The Resource Team at Incarnate Word plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic development across the curriculum. This team of specialists rely on data points collected from standardized test scores, student work, and teacher observations to support key areas in reading, language arts, and math. The resource team consists of the Learning Consultant, two Reading Specialists, and two Math Specialists.

With support from the Learning Consultant, our reading specialists foster and strengthen reading comprehension and fluency, implementing strategies to support students in decoding words, understanding text, and developing a love for reading. For students who are reading at or above grade level, the specialists might introduce more complex texts and analytical skills to continue their growth. In addition, they may work with students to enhance their writing proficiency, guiding them through the process of crafting clear and coherent texts while developing their grammar, punctuation, and creative expression. For advanced writers, the specialists might provide opportunities for complex writing projects or explore advanced literary techniques. 

Similarly, our math specialists focus on reinforcing foundational concepts and providing targeted interventions to help students build strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities. For students who already meet the standard, the math specialists may offer advanced enrichment activities to further challenge their skills and deepen their understanding. 

Together with the classroom teacher, our resource team collaborates to create a supportive learning environment, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential in these fundamental academic areas.
